Jonah York

Jonah has strong experience in facilitating work for all ages and backgrounds. Making theatre and art accessible, open, diverse and fun is a crucial part of Jonah's practice.  He is currently co-managing the National Lottery Climate Action Fund Project 'Birds, Bees, Bikes and Trees'. 

 

Jonah is a co-founder of Timbadash Theatre - A multi-sensory theatre company for children and young adults. Due to it's popularity and highly succsesful engagment with the local and national community, Timbadash is currently transitioning into a CIO. Jonah has recently finished working with The Bowes Museum and HMS Deerbolt to create a zine and audio recording of the 'Unheard Voices' project in response to L S Lowry and Norman Cornish's 'Kith and Kinship' exhibition. https://thebowesmuseum.org.uk/learn/unheard-voices/ 

 

He also recently finished filming for Woven Nest theatre on there production of 'Milk Two Sugars' focusing around creative ageing and hydration within care homes. 

 

Jonah's work as a Creative Associate with Seven Stories saw him work in the Byker community with local primary schools on the Bringing Byker Together program and with The North East Young Lads and Dads -  Reading Together Program. His work with Seven Stories led to features in the first-ever permanent exhibition. 

 

Jonah has a strong realtionship with The North East Young Dads and Lads, he created there bespoke E-Learning platform for Young Dad's called DigiDAD (Linked Below). He has also been a sessional worker, Senior Project Leader and Project Manager for the chairty in-house and as a consultant.

 

Jonah has also worked with universities and arts buildings such as Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Newcastle University, HMS Deerbolt and The Bowes Museum, Streetlaw, Northumbria University, and many other academics and professionals. 

 

Jonah has also worked with young people all over the country with the NT Connections Festival and also as a freelance artist.
